Where the shape of catastrophe becomes the shape of opportunity

I worked with a small team at Parachute Creative to design a custom brand system for Force Majeure Center. This unique climate-focused organization, originally founded by the well-known artist duo Helen and Newton Harrison, pushes the boundaries of visual activism and creative advocacy. This identity was carefully crafted to represent the center’s disruptive, systemic, and bold approach to the urgency of the climate crisis.

Disruption & Opportunity

We began by creating a living symbol, with a constant and a variable via the cut-out. This is based on the rationale that a system can be represented by a circle. Disruption in the system is represented by a slanted cut, which then opens a window for opportunity.

Bold design for bold ideas

Our team felt this special organization needed a bold identity that spoke without words. We put in a lot of time to develop a thoughtful and well crafted look and feel based on the core principles of the organizations mission.

Thoughtful system application

Applying a design system effectively is as important as designing it. We also designed outreach materials that helped grab attention, engage readers, and send a strong professional message.
